Importing AI Sires via Sire Summary File

This article will guide you through importing Published Sires via the Sire Summary file in the downloads section of the ILR/i4 members login section on your Breed Society’s Website (if available).

This file is not provided by all breed societies, and depending on the society, may need to be made available to you before it appears for download. Please check with your society if you’re unable to locate it.

 Instructions

Start by logging into the members section of your breed society’s website.

  1. Go to the download files section and donwload the file named SIRESUMM.DAT | Sire Report

  2. Open HerdMASTER, login to your database, and then go to View/Edit → AI Sires

  3. In the AI Sires window, select Import on the toolbar to the right, Select the file you downloaded and click Open

  4. Once the file is imported, you can select an animal from the list to view its details. You can also click on Load to begin adding the selected animal to your Animal List.

  5. On this screen, you will have the option of importing the Animal’s Sire and Dam. You can also set the Animal Tag (Defaults to Society ID) Owner, Breeder, Active Status, and Society ID.

  6. Once you’re ready, click on OK to add the animal to your animal list and it should then appear the next time the Animal list is opened/refreshed.

You may need to check the box for Show Offsite for this animal to show in your Animal List.

If you have multiple breeds, make sure you select the correct one from the drop-down before importing the file.
